Can you believe that today was Emilie's first birthday party....ever? Her birthday falls at a bad time: just 4 days after her older sister's and right when the school year and many other activities are coming to a close and life is chaotic for a few weeks. Every year, we promise her she can have a party and every year we wimp out. There was no wimping out this year.

Halligalli is a popular birthday party place. It's a former swim center that has been filled with trampolines, climbing equipment, slides and inflatable bouncy things. Here the kids are having a great time whipping foam balls into each other's faces.

James managed to land on his feet

Sweaty faces and chicken nuggets

The kids got one token each to play on arcade games or ride the bumper cars. The boys are making the most out of each token

I won't go into the gory details about how stressful it was making Emilie a cake. In the end, I opted for muffins. Oh, and I won't go into the gory details about how stressful it was trying to find frosting and decorating the muffins. Suffice it to say I was really missing Publix and their delicious decorated birthday cakes. On top of that, I didn't realize I had bought the trick candles that re-light and I almost managed to set a cup on fire.

Big, happy smiles

Did I tell you about Elizabeth's cake that developed a huge fissure thru the middle and was held together (most pathetically) with a skewer?
